The Delaware Valley Chapter participated in the Hearne Hardwoods Open house featuring the Lie-Nielsen Tool Works on Oct, 5th & 6th in Oxford, PA. The event drew many woodworkers looking for that special item or a beautiful piece of wood.

There was plenty of interest in the Society of American Period Furniture Makers booth, with Bob Rozaieski demonstrating the art of carving a Ball & Claw leg on the 1st day and John Previti showing the technique of preparing and sawing Veneer for gluing on the 2nd  day. Our booth drew many questions throughout the days both about the demonstrations being shown and also about the Society.

A group of students from the Wood Studio Class at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts taught by Scott Kip were visiting and showed a keen interest in our demonstrations. They may not be making 18th century furniture at this time but it sure is nice to see young people with an interest in woodworking.

With the help of SAPFM members William Duffield, Bob Rozaieski, David Dorey, Ron Root & John Previti, we were able to sign up five new members to the Society. Please welcome Christopher Capone, Mark Gross, Bill Thompson, Mike O?Grady and Rod Banks.

Our thanks to Rick Hearne and everyone at Hearne Hardwoods for having the Society of American Period Furniture Makers participate in their annual open house.
