All Blue Ridge Chapter members and interested SAPFM members:

The October 14 meeting is fast approaching.  We will meet at the
Fredericksburg Area Woodworkers Guild shop, hosted by the Guild.  We want
to focus on chairs for this meeting.  For some of us chairs are a real
challenge.  We want this meeting to be a broad discussion of the
techniques, problems and solutions of chair making both classic side
chairs and windsors.  Brian Weldy of the Hay Shop in Colonial
Williamsburg will be our featured speaker.  I have
recently--finally--completed a set of ten Federal chairs.  It's been a
long, sometimes painful, process.  I'm going to bring some of the jigs
and fixtures I made during the build and hope to start a discussion
including suggestions of what I could/should have done differently.

We want to have a wide ranging discussion of chair making techniques with
lots of participation.  Please bring a chair you have built or are
building along with any jigs, fixtures or tools you find useful.

As they did last year, the Guild with have an excellent selection of wood
for sale and we will have time and space for a tool swap and sale.  A
tentative schedule is below.  As always, if you plan to attend please
send me the following:

Your name as you want it on a name tag

Number of guests and their name(s)

I will also have a new selection of chapter logo shirts available, button
downs, polos, T-shirts and a new item, long sleeve T-shirts, for sale.

Cost of the meeting, including coffee, donuts and lunch, will be $20.
The address of the Guild Shop is:  1104 Summit St., Fredericksburg, VA
22401

swap or sale

I hope to see many of you in October.

One last thought, if you have not registered for Williamsburg in January
there are only a few places still available.  Don't delay any longer!

Regards,
