Early Tall Case Clocks

I am looking for info on very early American clocks.
Nutting describes clocks with a single hand (some of the first).
I would be interested in building an early tall case clock and would like to build one with only one hand (I don't need to know the exact time).
Were clocks this early built in a tall case?
Does anyone have photos of clocks like this?
I believe they would have been from the William and Mary period. That period does not seem to be well represented on this site, however it is a time frame of interest to me and I can not find much info.
I would also like info on clock works for the same.

Michael-
I'm a big Wm and Mary fan, too, but don't know much about clocks from the period. Some people come to mind who might-
Gary Sullivan, a clock dealer near Boston, very knowledgeable
Mori Heckscher, head curator at the met will also probably be able to help
Brock Jobe at Winterthur will know or will be able to connect you with someone there who can help
Tell them I sent you, and good luck-Al
