Judging from the number of people who read this, I suspect there is great interest. Could you tell us more? Thanks for sharing.

There is a saying in my neck of the woods that it is easier to apologize than to ask permission.  With that here goes.

My idea is so radical and non-traditional that the experts either will not believe it or have so much belief in the Classical Orders that they don't believe the method.

I have spent 10 years studying Townsend and his furniture.  I have collected enough actual measurements from his furniture to prove that my idea works.  The answer is in the furniture.  The method, I call it a puzzle, is so complex initially I spent untold hours figuring it out.  Once you understand it the method is simple.

For the experts, have an open mind .  For others have the curiosity.

It is obvious that with over 180 hits and only 300 SAPFM members, that a lot of Guests are looking but can't access it.  I encourage anyone not a member that has a real interest in Period furniture, to invest $35 for membership.  That allows access but more importantly it opens up the world of Period furniture participation through membership in SAPFM.

Now I apologize.

Larry I tried to send you an email, but your email is hidden. Am I missing a button anything that says to send email to a member?

When I login and click on "Larry" on the left hand side it goes to the profile.  There the e-mail is shown on the top block.  Try it again.  In the mean time I will send the administrator a message to check it.

Sorry,

Larry

Hey, Larry, did you also discover the secret to Stradavari's varnish?  ha ha...

Of course we would all like to hear your theory!!

Thanks!

Larry,

I believe it will always show YOUR e-mail to YOU. Unfortunately, I believe you have chosen (probably by default) to have it hidden in your profile. When you log on, go to your profile (there is a button at the top of the page called 'profile'). On the left side, under 'Modify Profile', choose 'Account Related Settings'. In the 'Email' section there is a checkbox for 'Hide email address from public'. If this is checked, then no one (except for you) can see your e-mail address. I believe this will be the case when you check...

Hope that helps,
Paul.

MESSAGE TO PAUL BREMMER:

Thanks for your help, Paul.  I hope that has finally corrected this problem.  If there is someone out there to check it, I would be grateful.

To date I count 16 SAPFM members that have requested information on Townsend's design method.

I would appreciate feedback either positive or negative.

Also, if you are interested I encourage you to request steps 2 & 3.

Step 2 gives the method Townsend used when the base molding resulted in 1/32 increments.

Step 3 gives the method Townsend used on the slant top desk.  It also expands to show how he designed high boys, secretaries, tables, etc  This will expand your capabilities in designing your own furniture.

Both steps will expand your capability to build Townsend  pieces

Thanks again for your interest.

Larry.
