Curly Maple Leg Blanks?

I have bought a number of sets of legs stock from Maple Leaf Hardwoods. The prices may seem high, but Paul is much more stringent about grading that many sellers, particularly with regard to the stock being clear and free of blemishes.
No connection except a satisfied customer.

In my experience IrionLumber has the best Mahogany, Walnut, & Tiger Maple. I have purchased a lot of it and love it. In reagards to the Tiger Maple I have received material with consistent strips @ a 1/32 to 1/16 of inch apart. I think it is tiger maple is great choice for a tea table. I am making some foot stools as we speak out of tiger maple. Just be aware that maple shows everything so a lot scraping is expected.

Thanks all. I found a realy nice set at Maple Leaf. They looked so nice, I was afraid to not grab them. The price was a little high, but they sure look nice. Got them yesterday, but I haven't looked at them yet. Freddy, I'd love to buy from Irion, but I can't afford their 200bdft minimum! Especially since it would have to come to TN! Maybe someday! I found a really nice wide board for the top and rails locally, but I haven't found material for the skirts yet. Not sure how thick I will make them. I've seen some that were 3/4" and others up to 1 1/4" I tend to like the thicker ones because I tend to like "fatter" knees I guess. Anyway, I may place another order at Maple Leaf for some skirt stock. My local dealers don't stock anything beyond 4/4 (and that is really torn out, so you have to plane it down a lot to get it clean). You want oak? We got plenty of oak 'round here!
Hey Freddy, how about some pictures of those stools? Thanks for the tip on the curly maple. I haven't used it much. Not sure if you remember me or not, but I was in Phil's lowboy class a couple of summers ago (not the guy with the phone, the other guy!).

Yes Yes I remember! I will post the pictures once I get the files back from my Webmaster. Good Luck and remember sharp planes, chisels, and SCRAPERS are a must with the Tiger Maple. The maple shows every little scratch, so be careful not to start with too coarse of a sandpaper.

"Good Hope Lumber " can supply curly maple in various sizes. They are not cheap but their wood is excellent. They do not have a minimum order requirement and will ship within a day or two after ordering. The fellow to talk with is "Skip". He will tell you what the price is and what he has in stock, which is sizeable. They are located around Cochranville, PA.
