Corner Cupboard glazing

I need a glazing compound that drys pretty quick and will take some brown color so as to match the cabinet. I have a 12 glass pane cabinet that needs the glazing to hold the glass. The muntins are too small and delicate for 1/4 molding and nails. Any ideas?

Whiting [calcium carbonate] mixed with a thick cut of shellac and pigment or dye is a traditional glazing compound used by cabinet and clock makers.

I use the latex (water base) glazing compound from ACE Hardware.  If you cannot find it in a plastic jar buy the caulking tube.  It also will take stain and dries overnight.

I too use a "Dap" glazing compound that is white. I have read somewhere though that for the darker colour that Durhams water putty is good. It's a powder that is mixed as needed, and I believe that it takes stain.

The Durhams water putty also works okay.  You can mix it with water base stain/dye instead of water to get the color you want.  It is also good for filling nail holes, etc.  It dries rock hard.

I use Dap glazing also and just mix oil pigment (artist's oil paint or scrape the bottom of an oil stain can).  It doesn't dry fast but it works well  It works best if after mixing, allow to air dry a day or 2 before glazing the lites in because adding this type of pigment will make the glazing compound a bit too sticky at first.
