Hello Ya'll. (I may not be a native Charlstonian, but I'm trying). I am setting up a 2 day carving class January 29 & 30 at my workshop in Charleston, SC. The cost is $125 per day, and the topic is going to be carving the Newport shell, but since there are only room for 5 students, if you are interested in carving something else, (such as ball and claw foot, concave Newport shell, etc.) that will work also. We can customize for each student.

I'm also scheduled to teach the following:

Woodzone, Columbia, SC, March, 2010
Woodcraft, Johnson City, TN April, 2010
Marc Adams School of Woodworking, October 2010

Please check my website at www.marymaycarving.com for specifics.

You can e-mail me at marymaycarving.com if you are interested in reserving a spot in the January class.

Thanks!

Hello Mary,  Im a great fan of your work.  Unfortunately I have neither the time or finances to travel to one of your classes right now ,however, I do anxiously await your videos that accompany your Newport convex and concave shell castings.  I know that you did not have time to produce them last year. Do you think that it is something you will get to in 2010?  Thanks.

Your appearance on the woodwrights shop linked to by another member on another thread was great.  I would love to see something similar for the Newport shells you displayed on the show.

Scott, thanks for your kind message. I hope to get several DVDs out this year (hopefully within the next few months) - Newports shells are the priority, and any other requests are welcome.

I think in this economy, if you can take "classes" on your tv - anything helps. My hopes for these dvds and castings are like this:

dvd - to watch in your living room
casting - to see and touch while you are working
written instructions - to review/remind what was seen on the dvd (not many people have dvds players in their workshop.

Thanks again.

I just finished spending two days carving with Mary May. It was an excellent experience and would return in the future.
