Calvo Wood Carving School

Hello to all,
For those of you interested I own Calvo Woodcarving School located in Gloucester, Massachusetts.  I teach a variety of classes directed towards strong fundamentals in carving technique.  I have been teaching woodcarving for over twenty years and have been a professional woodcarver for thirty-four.

I was trained by a German woodcarver, named Frederick Brunner who went through the formal European apprenticeship as well as an Italian carver Arcangelo Cascieri who owned Cascieri and diBiccari Studio in Boston.  Frederick Brunner was skilled and sensitive enough to carving technique that he even forged his own woodcarving tools which I do as well. Arcangelo lead a team of 12 to 13 carvers doing a lot of church work in the 50's along with his partner, Adio who handled another 12 artist in the clay modeling studio for pieces destined to be cast into bronze.  I also became a strong clay modeler assisting Adio as well.  In hindsight, this became important because it exercised the visual muscle in 3D designing as it relates to woodcarving.

I have refined my classes, which represents my training, to the point where they are like a puzzle and everything builds upon something that was said or learned earlier. The puzzle structure is important because many of my classes are five days so time is essential in learning and I respect the distance people travel to attend.  I have recently posted my classes for 2013.  I have posted my school website url here for your convenience if you would like to investigate my classes further and or i can be reached at 978-283-0231.
