Books for sale

I am planning to sell my furniture book collection. It probably makes more sense to advertise it here first before taking it to a used bookstore. Of my period furniture books, I am offering the following.

Furniture Masterworks of John and Thomas Seymour, by Massey
The New Fine Points of Furniture, by Sack
John Townsend, by Heckscher
Connecticut Valley Furniture, by Kugelman
Thomas Elfe, by Humphrey
American Furniture of the 18th Century, by Greene
18th Century English Furniture, by Stevens and Whiittington
American Furniture from the Kaufman Collection, by Abrams
English Furniture, by Bowett

Since I am a woodworker, not a bookseller, I don?t know exactly how to describe their condition, but in my view they are all excellent condition. No damage or marks or sign of wear, etc. Contact me with an offer.

Stephen,

Might I suggest that you associate some prices to your books if you wish to sell them. I realize that to do so involves more or less anxiety ;am I giving them away, am I asking too much / etc.

I think I can virtually guarantee that a used book store wil pay almost nothing;I have found a well known web auction site to be very effective selling specialist books

When faced with a similar situation some time backwith a large collection  ( not furniture books, but a different hobby books ) , I started with prices that I felt were reasonable, but perhaps at the high end, and made a list with prices and descriptions then from time to time offered to discount the remainders, all of this done by linking interested parties to my eMail and them sending them the current list by eMail as things sold. This way, we worked opuirway down onproces getting top dollar for those in demand.

Thanks Karl,

I have never used that web auction site, and I thought this might be easier. Here is the list of books with some prices, chosen to be roughly 75% of what I saw on Abebooks. On top of these prices I would add shipping.

Furniture Masterworks of John and Thomas Seymour, by Massey, $400
The New Fine Points of Furniture, by Sack, $50
John Townsend, by Heckscher, $300
Connecticut Valley Furniture, by Kugelman, $125
Thomas Elfe, by Humphrey, $40
American Furniture of the 18th Century, by Greene, $25
18th Century English Furniture, by Stevens and Whiittington, $15
American Furniture from the Kaufman Collection, by Abrams, $30
English Furniture, by Bowett, $25

If anyone is interested, please contact me.
