Does anyone have any information or references for this 18th C London society? Other than what is available on the net and in google books? In particular, I'm looking for any book references to this society.

I've a copy of Capital New Designs, Being All The Most Approved Patterns of Household Furniture In Genteel Trade, c1763 and would like to understand a bit more of who they were or might have been. I've dug through the various online sources, resulting in some basic information but not enough.

Thanks
Gary

Gary, The above book has a discussion of the guild system in London in the 16th and 17th century. I don't know if it will help, but it has an extensive bibliography that may.

Thanks! That's a title I had not heard of (not that I've heard of every title under the sun...). I'll take a look at it. This reminds me of a book on my shelf that I hadn't thought of, dealing with the guilds of England.

Actually Jack Plane put me on to the book, he deserves the thanks. It's the best book on the subject I have found.
