Wondering if anyone has any experience in making/mixing their own wax? I have been using a french wax for many years that is very easy to use and dull/flat, but I cannot find it anymore. Im interested in figuring out how to make a dull wax and what ingredients to mix. Pete Aleksa

So your saying to dowel it and leave the end grain of the dowel visible? I would not do that. Just use a screw and plug the hole with matching wood so you dont even see it. Plus, I like how the screw has the ability to pull the horizontal arm part against the stile.

Has anyone had any experience dealing with the library at Winterthur?  I am curious about a few of the shapes on a certain piece in Montgomerys book and was wondering if pictures were available and how easily it was to get them. 

In the McIntire book, figure 5-11 and 5-20, The plumes or feathers, are they tenoned into the post and crest rail and then lap jointed onto the main vertical splat?  So you wouold basically have 5 elements to the splat? I saw the exhibit bt cant seem to recall exactly what I saw.
